Seattle Great Wheel

April 8, 2013

The Seattle Great Wheel was built in less than a year, but its story goes back much further than that. Seattle businessman Hal Griffith had envisioned a Ferris wheel in the city for nearly 30 years, but it wasn't until he realized he could build one on his own pier that his dream became a reality.

Blue Lagoon in Iceland

April 5, 2013

The Blue Lagoon located in Iceland is among the most remarkable place in the world, according to National Geographic magazine. “The steaming turquoise pools of Iceland’s Blue Lagoon, trapped in volcanic rock represent an otherworldly vision,” (National Geographic). I was fortunate enough to have a 6 hour layover in Reykjavík, Iceland from my flight back from Paris.

For those that are new to the Blue Lagoon, it is a geothermal spa built to help the health, wellness and skin care powered by geothermal energy. The warm waters heat up to 98-102 degrees and are rich in minerals like silica and sulphur that promote softer skin and can help people suffering from skin diseases such as psoriasis.  Read full article here as I start migrating my content over.

Spaghetti Bolognaise

Bolognese sauce, known in Italian as ragù alla bolognese, is a meat-based sauce originating from Bologna, Italy. In Italian cuisine, it is customarily used to dress “tagliatelle al ragù” and to prepare “lasagne alla bolognese”. In the absence of tagliatelle, it can also be used with other broad, flat pasta shapes, such as pappardelle or fettuccine, or with short tube shapes, such as rigatoni or penne. Genuine ragù alla bolognese is a complex sauce which involves slow cooking using a variety of techniques, including sweating, sautéing and braising. Ingredients include a characteristic soffritto of onion, celery and carrot, different types of minced or finely chopped meat (generally bovine, including beef, and possibly pork, such as pancetta), wine, and a small amount of tomato concentrate. —Wikipedia
